Our breeding dogs are family dogs
It is particularly important to me to mention that we deliberately work with host families. We breed with well socialized, physically and mentally stimulated healthy dogs. We believe that giving birth and raising a litter is good for a healthy dog as long as they know our house and home like their own .
If you want to know more about the so-called Guardian Home program, or you can imagine being a Guardian home yourself, I recommend reading the text below.
What is a Guardian Home?
As mentioned above, it is important to me not to keep any dog in a kennel and to encourage and challenge every dog in the best possible way and to let them be part of the family. Breeding takes a lot of time, patience, knowledge and money.
I am dependent on the cooperation of the host families. If there are too many dogs, it is no longer possible for me to deal with each dog individually. That's why we decided to work with Guardian Homes.
How does a Guardian Home work?
In order to further develop the breed, tested young animals are selected from a litter. These dogs we put into a guardian home place.
You get the character, genetically and physically best dog from a litter.
You agree that the breeding dog is with us for at least 1 week in the first year of life so that when the time is right he also feels at home with us. Stress is passed on to the bitch and the pups as well, creeping into the genetics. It is therefore essential that the dog feels comfortable with us!
You work closely with us and you stand emotionally behind this type of breeding.
You are willing to give up your breeding bitch 3 times for 9 weeks during the time in which she has puppies with us.
You live within 1 hour's drive from us and you have a fenced yard.
You are responsible for ensuring that the breeding dog or bitch does not cover or is covered by other dogs.
You bring us the breeding dog to cover or to be covered.
The breeding dog will remain the property of Swiss Mountain until the end of the breeding season, after which it will be returned to the Guardian Home at a reduced price and the contract will be terminated.
The Guardian Home neuters the breeding dog at its own expense at the end of the breeding period
All breeding-relevant examinations are carried out by us. (genetics, eye exams, x-rays of hips, elbows ecc )
All this and more is the basis of a contract. If we have aroused your curiosity and you can imagine being a host family, also see advantages in being a host family, if you can't get rid of the thought of working a little closer with us and getting a deeper insight into breeding, then you are very welcome to contact us
